Hurricane Flashback 2005 - Miami
Right now, the entire East Coast is experiencing storms that aren’t normal for the area. Hurricane, now Tropical Storm, Irene is making its way up the coast and everyone has shut themselves inside.
Chad and I are no strangers to tropical storms. We lived in Miami before moving to New England (me for 5 years, him for 6) and lived through more hurricanes than we would have liked. In 2005, the year of Hurricane Katrina, we survived six hurricanes, one of which was Hurricane Wilma - pictured above.
I was lucky, in the respect that my electricity was only out for about 2 weeks. Some people didn’t get power back for several months. One of the reasons Chad and I moved away from Miami was hurricanes. If you live there, it’s something you are going to experience every year, without question. We weren’t expecting to have to relive them again moving here, and I suppose technically, we haven’t yet. Knock on wood.
