Winks And Whistles

A Mid-Week NYC Update

I’ve had a fun couple of days exploring more of the city. On Monday, I decided to do the whole 5th, Madison, Park Avenue walking tour. I started off at Uniqlo where I picked up a couple of things. This tunic (which I also plan on wearing as a dress) and these knee high socks.

And you know what happened to me after my little shopping trip at Uniqlo? As I’m walking down 5th Avenue and am stopped at a light, I look to my left and see Snoop Dogg! Excuse me … I mean, Snoop Lion. I was super stoked, of course. I mean, it’s not everyday that you walk next to the man who basically introduced you to rap. Him, Dr. Dre and the Beastie Boys.

Then it started pouring rain just I as happened to walk by a Magnolia Bakery. I mean, the timing couldn’t have been better. I ordered an espresso and a s’mores cupcake. It lived up to all the hype.

And do you know what was right across the street? Dylan’s Candy Bar. I mean, I had to go in. Right? Right. This place is incredible. Two floors of every sweet imaginable and a third level with a cafe. It’s sugar heaven.

Chad and I ate dinner at a really fun place in our neighborhood last night called Vynl. It’s music themed and has several bathrooms named after musicians. I ended up in the Cher-themed one complete with a full wall mosaic and none other than Cher’s music blasting inside.

Yesterday, I decided to be a big nerd and visit the New York Public Library. It’s such a beautiful building and to my surprise there was a really fun exhibit called Lunch Hour on display. The only appropriate thing to do next was get some lunch.

And I went someplace I’ve been dying to eat - Shake Shack. One of my favorite bloggers loves this place, so I knew I had to try it. And I’m pretty sure that in the movie, Friends With Benefits, they eat at the Madison Square Park location - so, of course, I had to eat there too.

The line was long - so, so long. It was a little more than 30 minutes from the time I stepped in line to when I got my food. But it was completely worth it. My burger, fries and vanilla shake (my fave flavor) were just as good as I’d imagined they’d be. Shake Shack - I love you.
