Getting To Know NYC

After about a week and a half of Chad being in NYC, Dexter and I made the trip down too. We got here a few days ago and plan on staying for another week. It’s just been so great having our little family back together again.

One of the first things I did was find a dog park for Dexter. We found this one that’s about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Dexter made a great introduction for us by peeing on a woman’s shoe first thing. Thankfully there was a hose for her to rinse off with.

But our place is also super close to Central Park - about a 10 minute walk. And I discovered that you can let your dog off lease there during certain hours, which is just great. This morning we came across a group of about 30 dogs playing and Dexter couldn’t have been happier.

While I think NYC is a great city as far as the variety of things to do, there are certain things I don’t love about it. New Yorkers - you may not want to read this next bit. As a whole, I don’t think NYC is very pretty. Don’t get me wrong - there are parts here and there that are stunning, but too many unattractive skyscrapers. There are also way too many people. And it smells. It smells so bad - like urine and trash. Thank god for Central Park. Central Park has been an oasis for me.

I do really like NYC at night though. You forget that the streets aren’t so pretty and get taken in by all that the city has to offer. Chad and I had a date night in Hell’s Kitchen last night and walking the city streets at night is a million times better than during the day.

I’m really looking forward to exploring different neighborhoods during the next week. I’ve done a lot of exploring in our neighborhood and I’m excited to see what the other neighborhoods have to offer.
