Winks And Whistles

Living. Learning. Laughing.
A Birthday Bike Ride

Our second day in Paris (first full day), Chad and I took a bike tour of Paris. And oh yeah, it was also my birthday. How did I get so lucky?

After a recommendation from friends and extremely high ratings from Trip Advisor, we chose Bike About Tours. This bike tour covered the back streets of Paris and hit up a few more well known parts of the city.

Our tour guide was great and was a big fan of street art, introducing us to the “space invaders,” a common street art sighting around Paris and actually all over the world.

While in one alleyway, a young Parisian boy starting running around us with his toy machine gun pretending like we were the enemy. I think he actually shot someone with an air pellet. Is that what they’re called?

We were also introduced to super fancy rich people backyards/gardens. Most of them are private, but one is open to the public (pictured top left). I learned that the European definition of a garden is much different from the American one. I hear garden and thinks lots of pretty and colorful flowers. Here it’s more of the manicured shrubbery variety.

At the end of the tour we were given a list of our tour guides’ (one of the owners is an American) favorite places in Paris. We’ve already been to two of the restaurants and both were great.

We’re off to Le Louvre today.

Au revoir!
