Rehearsal Dinner

Ah … the rehearsal dinner. Now this was fun.

It was held at the The River Company Restaurant & Brewery in a room that opened up onto a balcony with a pretty nice view of the New River. If you’re ever in the Radford (VA) area, you should stop by. They brew their own beer and the food is really great as well.

We invited the wedding party along with immediate family to the dinner. There was drinking, eating and toasts that made me cry. I don’t have a picture of Erik (Chad’s brother/best man) while giving his toast, but I’ll just say that it made everyone tear up.

My sister Nicole, sister-in-law Julia, Chad and Chad’s parents also spoke. There really isn’t an appropriate way to describe the rush of feelings you get when someone stands up and sings praises to you, your partner and the family you’re marrying into. It was a little overwhelming, but in the best way.

After dinner, we invited the rest of the wedding guests to join us for desserts and drinks. You should have seen the dessert spread. Chad’s mom, Kathy, really outdid herself and we had the biggest and widest variety of desserts I think I’ve ever seen in my life.

It was really nice having this extra bit of time with our guests on the eve of our wedding. Even though the whole weekend I felt like I didn’t really get enough time with everyone that attended, this little bit of extra time was nice.

And we invited people over to the B&B afterwards to help us start consuming the two kegs Chad insisted we buy. He was so afraid of running out of beer.

It was a very good night.
