Shoe-mergency!

Do you own something where you know if there came a time to replace it, it would have to be done immediately? For me, it’s my dog walking flip flops and and that time came yesterday.
I’d owned a pair of Reefs for the last 7 or 8 years that didn’t start out as dog walking flip flops (Dexter’s only 4), but soon turned into them once the pup came around. My requirements for dog walking flip flips include:
- must be able to walk 3 miles in them comfortably, i.e. no blisters or sore soles
- can wear in the water - won’t get slippery and will dry quickly
- don’t mind getting dirty - rinse off easily
My old pair of Reefs did all of those things perfectly. And then yesterday afternoon while out with Dexter, one of the flip flops split apart. My heart sank a little.
But I also had to go into action mode. I needed a replacement pair ASAP. Not like I’ll order them online and get them in a few days, but I needed something to wear for our next long dog walk (the following morning). I’ve become so dependent on these flip flops for the warm weather. They are just perfect in every way for what I need them for and I panicked at the thought of not having them.
So what did I do? Once we got home I went online to see which stores nearby sold the exact pair I had (hoping Reef still produced that particular kind). I found out that Eastern Mountain Sports did (and they were on sale!) and immediately headed over there to pick up a pair.
And now it seems like I won’t even need them today. Rain boots are in order. Not that I’m complaining. After three days of 90 degree heat, I’m thankful for the cooler weather.
Happy weekending!
