Welcoming Summer
Who knew the first official day of summer would be so incredibly hot? I thought it was August. The near 100 degree weather had me opening all of the windows and pulling out all of the fans.
Although I’ve been taking Dexter swimming regularly for the last month or two, it was more of a - this is what he likes to do kind of activity. In weather like this, I take him swimming twice a day not just because he likes it, but because it seems like the kind thing to do. I mean, if I had fur I sure as hell would want to go swimming as often as possible. Sure, I could just throw him in the tub and turn a cold shower on - but this way is more fun for him. And his swimming area is only a 10 minute walk from my place.
So, mine & Dexter’s first day of summer consisted of two swimming trips, a popsicle (I should have had more), lots of ice cubes and water, and fans running in just about every corner of the apartment. And okay, I did sneak out for a haircut which allowed me the luxury of AC for an hour.
Bring it on, summer. We’re ready.
