Flashback Friday! Best Friends Forever
I was really lucky to have a great group of friends while growing up. These photos chronicle 7th (or 8th maybe) through the summer after 12th grade. While we haven’t all kept in the best of touch since we went off to college, there has been a keeping up of sorts, off and on, with most of them. Some of you may recognize Melissa, who’s appeared in a number of blog posts. She and I...
Back To The Honeymoon: A Surprise Retreat
Whaaaaaat?! We just spent an hour screaming at the GPS, driving through construction hell and wondering if we would ever find our hotel. And you know what we found?
Absolute bliss. Right outside of Nimes.
At the end of that row of trees and parked cars is a little oasis. A cute little hotel. Two swimming pools. Tennis courts. An adorable restaurant that serves the most delicious food....

A Mid-Week NYC Update
I’ve had a fun couple of days exploring more of the city. On Monday, I decided to do the whole 5th, Madison, Park Avenue walking tour. I started off at Uniqlo where I picked up a couple of things. This tunic (which I also plan on wearing as a dress) and these knee high socks.
And you know what happened to me after my little shopping trip at Uniqlo? As I’m walking down 5th Avenue and...

Book Club Field Trip
Remember when book club read Wild by Cheryl Strayed? It was my favorite. It was a lot of people’s favorite.
Well, Cheryl Strayed was in town recently to promote her new book, Tiny Beautiful Things. A few of us couldn’t resist going to see her.
The reading was packed. Before it started, I got a peak of the author peaking at the audience and I waved. Like a fan girl wave. And she...

Afternoon Outings In NYC
Chad and I had a great weekend in the city. We visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, toured Brooklyn Brewery and walked among High Line - the most wonderful urban park (bottom photo) that starts in the Meatpacking District.

Weekly Web Favorites
While I’m in NYC, I definitely plan on visiting a few (or more than a few) museums. My first was the Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Right now they have a great exhibition of the school’s/museum’s collection from its fashion archives. And in the school’s building right next to the museum is a display of winning entries from its Barbie fashion contest. I...
Getting To Know NYC
After about a week and a half of Chad being in NYC, Dexter and I made the trip down too. We got here a few days ago and plan on staying for another week. It’s just been so great having our little family back together again.
One of the first things I did was find a dog park for Dexter. We found this one that’s about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Dexter made a great...
Flashback Friday! Awkward Pre-Prom Photos
Senior year prom. The coming down the stairs photo. The just one more picture photo. The photo with your date’s mom.
I’m sure most of you have photos just like these.
I really loved that pink dress. I was so excited because I only paid $20 for it. I really wish I knew where it was now. I think it was one of those dresses that got left behind during freshman year of college, got...

Back To The Honeymoon: A Quick Stop In Lyon
I really wish we could have spent more time in Lyon. It’s such a beautiful city! But it was one of those hard decisions we had to make when planning the trip about how much time to spend where and Lyon didn’t get the overnight privilege. And now I really want to go back!
Lyon is just lovely. We started off with just the best lunch and quite possibly my favorite dessert of the whole...

Dancing The Night Away
I hope you all have as much looking at these (many) photos as I did making this post. What a wonderful and fun evening!
Even though it was nearly 100 degrees the day of the wedding, everyone managed to make it onto the dance floor. We had so much fun.
And my favorite part of the night - the last dance.
Chad and I chose John Lennon’s Oh Yoko for our last song of the evening. What a...

The Inside Scoop: Crime Reporting
Last weekend I was given my first crime reporting assignment. I got an email from one of the editors I work with saying she had an “unusual assignment,” if I was interested.
What was this unusual assignment? Covering a two day dig in which hopefully volunteer search crews would uncover the remains of teen girl who went missing 23 years ago. I immediately responded back that I was...

Can't Get Enough Of: Horny Toad
Right before leaving for France, I stopped by Eastern Mountain Sports to pick up some clothes I would need for the trip - staples like a pair of shorts and a couple of tees.
BTW - I love getting shorts at EMS. They always have the perfect length for me - the kind that hit mid-thigh. I hate it that when shopping for shorts you can only find the super short ones where your butt is practically...

Weekly Web Favorites
Hi, everyone! Weekly Web Favorites is back! Hooray!
What a strange week this has been. First, Chad is off to NYC for work. And that adjustment for me, being home without him, has been harder than I thought it would be. Then I get an assignment to cover a search crew digging for a missing body. Much more on that later! And finally - my cousin Nadia is now moved into Boston! I had dinner with...

Back To The Honeymoon: Amazing Annecy
Oh, Annecy. What a wonderful couple of days we had there.
It wouldn’t even have been on our honeymoon radar if it hadn’t been for a friend of a friend who suggested it. We really lucked out.
Annecy is like the Venice of France. Beautiful waterways everywhere.
Oh … and did I mention that it’s in the Alps? Well, it is. And it was just stunning everywhere you looked.

Flashback Friday! So Much Joy
Flashback Fridays are back! Hooray!
Right after my parents got divorced (age 9 for me), my mom, sisters and I moved into a little house in Lawton, Oklahoma. I have so many good memories from there. Many forts were constructed, dolls were played with and Mom always made pancakes for us on the weekends.

Kitchen Tip: Make Your Own Scouring Pad
I can’t take credit for this great idea, but I thought I would pass it on to all of you. Did you know that you could make your own scouring pad basically for free?
I don’t remember where I originally saw this idea, but I can’t remember the last time I actually bought a scouring pad from the store.
All you need are:
scissors
twine or some kind of rope
mesh bags that your...
Happy Birthday, Nicole!
It’s my sister’s birthday and she’s likely laying on the beach right about now. Of course, I’m terribly jealous, but she deserves a little vacation.
Did I tell you that Nicole did everyone’s hair for the wedding? She started around 7 a.m. and didn’t stop until after the wedding portraits were taken. She was a superstar and I’m so thankful for all she...

Cutting The Cake
My favorite thing about our wedding cake - it was so pretty! Even in the sweltering heat, the wedding cake didn’t melt into a big pile of goo.
And it was delicious too, of course! I mean, like really good. Which also makes me a bit sad because the only cake Chad and I ate was that bite during the cake cutting. I kept on meaning to go back and eat more, but it just didn’t happen.

Off To NYC
Right before Chad and I returned from France, we found out that Chad was going to be sent to New York City to work on a Frontline documentary. I, of course, had mixed feelings about this, but urged him to go.
So, a week and a half after returning from our honeymoon, my husband has gone of to live and work in NYC for a little bit. I keep on telling myself that we’re the type of couple that...

A Meeting Of The Book Clubs
Last weekend was a big one in terms of book club meetings. We met up with another book club, held it another state and zumba may have been involved.
But first, a few of us headed to Narragansett Beach for a little pre-book club meet-up.
According to native Rhode Islanders, this is the beach to “see and be seen.” We had a lot of fun and I learned that my body surfing skills need...

Back To The Honeymoon: Beautiful Beaune
Chad and I spent a couple of days in Beaune, which is in the Burgundy region of France. Burgundy was by far our favorite region for wine. Chad’s favorite wine of the whole trip - rully - was there.
We rented an apartment while we were there and one night while walking home Chad convinced me to go into a local’s (like, really local) bar. We ended up making some friends and when the...

A Stateside Date Night
A couple of nights after returning from our honeymoon, Chad and I took our first date night out back in the states. We went to the Boston Common to see a performance of Shakespeare’s play Coriolanus.
Every summer, there are free performances of a Shakespeare play on the Boston Common for a few weeks. We always try to make it every summer. Who wouldn’t want to picnic on a nice...

Guess What?!
I went running this morning. I know. I know.
And I wasn’t even planning on doing it, I swear. I rode our stationary bike for a little bit and then got ready to take Dexter out for his morning walk around Fresh Pond. Before I knew it, I was running.
I wasn’t expecting much. I thought I’d run a feet and then stop because of the pain in my knees. But that pain never came.

Honeymoon Hair Saver
I was having a bit of a hair dilemma before I left for my honeymoon.
In the interest of saving precious packing space, I decided to leave my hair dryer and straight iron at home. It was a big risk, but I also didn’t want to risk blowing out circuitry trying to convert the power from my American hair appliances to European outlets.
Then I had to face the issue of air dried hair....

First Dance
And amazingly not the last of the night for the two of us! Even though Chad and I met while out dancing, he’s shied away from dancing for the most part recently. So, I was thrilled that I got more than one dance out of him that night.
*Thanks to all of my friends and family for taking photos on our big day. I love being able to share them with you here.*

Frames
Apparently I’ve always had a thing for black framed glasses.
My sister, Alex, found and posted this photo of me on Facebook Friday and it made both me and Chad and laugh.
I don’t actually wear glasses. Luckily, I haven’t needed to yet.
I’m pretty sure these are my mother’s glasses that I’m wearing in this photo. And as you can see in the next photo,...

Walking Down The Aisle, Saying I Do
The last time I did a wedding blog post, you got to see a little of what was going on before the ceremony for both the guys and the gals. Here’s a peak at walking down the aisle and saying I Do.
You know how sometimes you can anticipate that you’re going to be nervous? Like before giving a speech or let’s say … get married in front of about 75 people. Well, even though...
Recovery Mode
Hello. Hello. Hello.
I’m back! We’re back. Chad and I arrived home Wednesday night and after a 7 hour flight and waiting about an hour for luggage (seriously!) we were welcomed home by a waiting pup. It was the best welcome home.
Thursday was a bit of a recovery from our honeymoon travels. Lots of catching up on t.v shows, lying around the apartment, snuggling with a super cute...
