Last Minute Changes
I bought jewelry to wear for my wedding a while ago. Well, I bought the earrings back in January and then the necklace about two months ago. The earrings, while really beautiful in the box, didn’t quite look as great on me as I thought they would. And well, the necklace, I kind of hated it from the second it arrived in the mail. I hate it when you order something online and it just...

Pleasantly Surprised
I never wanted to see the movie Crazy Stupid Love. From the previews, I thought it looked awful - even though it had Ryan Gosling in it. I mean, who doesn’t want to watch Ryan Gosling, right? So, I’m in the mood to watch a movie last night and am scanning the cable guide and there it is. It was either that or CSI New York. Ryan Gosling won. And you know what? It wasn’t awful....

Morning Walks
Most mornings Dexter and I walk around Fresh Pond Reservation. We both just love it. Dexter gets to run around off leash and I get to walk among some of the most beautiful land in the area. Fresh Pond is actually Cambridge’s drinking water supply. There’s a big fence around it to help ensure that dogs and other animals don’t go swimming in it. But that hasn’t stopped...

Up Close With The Revs
At the last New England Revolution home game, Chad and I got to go down on the field before the game to watch the team warm up. We usually get to the games early enough to do this, but we usually only can watch from our seats. Actually being on the field and being so close to the players was really fun. We, of course, got there right at the earliest we were able to. So there was only one player...

A Final Book Club Pick Before Taking A Break
Do you ever read a book and think, I know this person has had a super depressing and awful life but I just don’t care? Well, that’s how I felt most of the time while reading Jeanette Winterson’s memoir Why Be Happy When You Can Be Normal? Don’t get me wrong. Winterson’s childhood was awful and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. But I just don’t know. Maybe...

I had such a productive Saturday. I finished making the centerpieces (finally!) and I put together the goodie bags for the little kids attending the wedding. Want to know what’s inside? A few coloring books, crayons, bubbles and animal face masks. Sounds fun, right? We also hired a couple of babysitters too. One of the couples attending has five kids, so we thought it might be nice for...

Shoe-mergency!
Do you own something where you know if there came a time to replace it, it would have to be done immediately? For me, it’s my dog walking flip flops and and that time came yesterday. I’d owned a pair of Reefs for the last 7 or 8 years that didn’t start out as dog walking flip flops (Dexter’s only 4), but soon turned into them once the pup came around. My requirements for...

Getting Crafty: Wedding Edition
There isn’t really much in the DIY crafty department that I’m doing for my wedding. While there are tons of fun projects out there, I just wasn’t sure that I wanted to commit myself to the time it can take to actually create all these things you use decoration-wise for the event. My idea is to keep things as simple and stress free as possible on my end. And in the end, hiring...

Welcoming Summer
Who knew the first official day of summer would be so incredibly hot? I thought it was August. The near 100 degree weather had me opening all of the windows and pulling out all of the fans. Although I’ve been taking Dexter swimming regularly for the last month or two, it was more of a - this is what he likes to do kind of activity. In weather like this, I take him swimming twice a day not...

My Issue With: Pretty Little Liars
I want to preface this by saying that I am not about to hate on Pretty Little Liars. I mean, I just watched the entire the first season in a week and am counting down the days until the second season starts streaming on Netflix. So I’m a fan. Okay? That being said, I do have one major issue with this show: the way it handles relationships between high school girls and adult men. I’m...

Crushing On: Will Leather Goods
I found this bag when I was out shopping with my mom and sisters a couple of weekends ago. I fell for it hardcore. Note: I did not purchase it. Things that I love about it: Its simplicity. The logo. I think Will Leather Goods’ Signature Utility Tote would be perfect for an overnight trip or for your carry on luggage. I am crushing on it hardcore and now a lot of other things from Will...

A Night To Remember
This is it. Bachelorette party time! I just want to say that I had the best time ever. I was so lucky to be surrounded by so many people that I love. It really makes all the difference having people around to celebrate that make you laugh and know how to have a good time. I was so lucky to have so many friends and my sister with me that night. Thanks so much to everyone that came out! ...

It’s Sunday and I’m really wishing for another day to this weekend. I’ve been so exhausted this weekend and I think it’s from wedding related nerves. In reality, it’s three weeks until the wedding. But I actually only have two weeks left to get everything together because we’re leaving early to head down to Virginia for the wedding. When I went from realizing...

Delays
I have really meant to do a bachelorette party blog post by now, but as you can see from the above the photo - my laptop needed a little TLC. I’ve been having space issues for a while now and immediately following the bachelorette party, my laptop finally said, “No more!” No matter how many unnecessary things I deleted from my hard drive, it wouldn’t import anymore...

Flashback Friday! In The Beginning
Holy Moly! Only 22 days left until the wedding. I officially have wedding on the brain all the time. Since I can’t escape it, I thought I’d dedicate this Flashback Friday to some of the earlier moments in mine and Chad’s relationship. I can’t believe it’s been almost nine years. Our anniversary is actually the day after our wedding. Perfect, right? While all of these...

Obsessed With: The Sock Bun
For a while now I’ve been kind of obsessed with buns or “top knots” as they are hiply called now. I mean, I even follow a blog called Top-Knot. I’ve had super short hair for the longest time and have been growing it out the last year for the wedding and have been able to do all sorts of things with it that I haven’t been able to in so long. And it’s recently...

A Parisian Bridal Shower
No. My bridal shower did not resemble the Parisian themed one from the movie Bridesmaids. No puppy favors, chocolate fountains or giant heart-shaped cookies. But it did have a crepe station, cute Eiffel Tower wine cork favors and a delicious French chocolate cake. My mom and sisters hosted my bridal shower for me and did a great job. Everything was beautiful and I just had the best time with my...

My Sunday According To Instagram
On my family’s last day here, we did a little Boston site seeing and shopping. Sunday was such a gorgeous day to be outside in the city. We walked around and had lunch in the Public Gardens. It was pretty perfect. You can follow me on Instagram: @WinksAndWhistles

Whoa
It’s been an amazing few days. My mom and sisters came into town and it’s just been non-stop ever since. Yesterday was my bridal shower and bachelorette party and I am just floored by the amount of love and support I’ve been given by everyone. I’m very grateful for the family and friends that were here (and even those who couldn’t make it) to help me celebrate. I...

Fun With Family
My family’s here! My family’s here! I know some people really dread family visits, but not me! I love, love, love being with my family. I mean, having four sisters is really the best and when Mom’s around, it really just completes everything. Everyone’s staying at my place. Yes, that’s six females in my two bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Thankfully, Chad’s...

Flashback Friday! Hanging Out
After consulting with several of the people in these photos, it’s been determined these pictures are from the spring of 9th grade - so that would be 1996, I think. We were just doing what kids do - acting silly and having fun. And you love my hot pink shirt, right?

Holy Moly! Let The Countdown Begin!
It’s officially one month until the wedding. Wow oh wow oh wow. That’s soon, right? I mean … before it was 10 months. Then six months. Then two months and now that it’s only a mere month away I’m really hoping that time just flies because I just cannot wait!  I’m worried that I’m going to be overly nervous the day of. Not because of the whole getting...

The Wedding Bands Are In!
On Saturday Chad and I picked up our wedding bands. Yippee! It’s hard to tell which ring is which in this photo - mine’s on the left. We both picked out pretty simple, traditional wedding bands. Mine’s a thin platinum band and Chad’s is made out of palladium. Chad’s biggest concern when it came to his wedding band was that it would be able to be cut off his finger...

I am officially in wedding mode. I know that may sound a little strange since I’ve been planning this wedding for almost a year now. But all of a sudden everything wedding related has started to feel … real. Maybe it’s that my mom and all four sisters will be here in a matter of days to get the festivities started a little early - hello bridal shower and bachelorette party!...

Sarah & Teddy Get Married
Last Sunday I got to witness these two get married. It was sort of amazing. Sarah and Teddy got married on the front porch of the house Sarah grew up in. They were married by a friend that helped push them from co-workers to more than co-workers. How happy do they look? So happy! And I mean, Sarah is just radiant! That’s Sarah and her sister/maid of honor, Hannah, just moments...
