Happy Birthday, Pup Pup!
Yesterday was Dexter’s 4th birthday. I don’t know about you other dog owners out there, but it’s hard to remember what life was like when I didn’t own a dog. I mean, what did I do with myself? I couldn’t even imagine my life without him now. He just makes it so much better in so many ways. I mean, there is absolutely nothing that compares to the way Dexter greets me...

The Dress Is Here!!!!!
My wedding dress arrived today in what must have been the tiniest, lightest FedEx package that a wedding dress has every been delivered in. My very thoughtful landlord kept an eye out for the package for me because I thought I might not be home when it was delivered. He couldn’t believe it when it arrived - how little of a package there was. But I am very serious about not sweating my ass...
Getting Out Of The House
I love being at home. It easily makes my top five list alongside eating key lime pie and dreaming about traveling and writing full-time while living out of an Airstream. Yes, I am serious.
The unfortunate thing about being a homebody is that you sometimes forget how awesome it is to not be home. How much fun it is to actually be in the city and see your friends.
My rule is to try and get out of...

Memorial Day Parade
Two Sundays ago, I got to cover an early Memorial Day Parade in Newton for one of the local papers. I love parades but can’t actually remember the last time I’d been to one. I love the feel of small town parades. They’re so much better than bigger spectacles like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I think. It reminded me of being in Idaho for the Fourth of July - one of my...

Weekly Web Favorites
This weekend has been pretty great. I’ve gotten to see friends and family, and I watched the Justin Bieber documentary Never Say Never. I’m not gonna lie. I loved it. I’ve never been a Justin Bieber fan. I mean, I’m not a hater or anything. I’ve just never really paid attention is all. Then another blogger wrote about this film and well, I just had to watch it. So...

Flashback Friday! Strike A Pose
I don’t know if all little girls loved posing for pictures as much as my sisters and I did, but we sure knew how to work it for the camera. I remember my paternal grandmother had one of those large video cameras - the kind you had to hoist on your shoulder - it was the 80s - and I just ran in front of it whenever she was recording. My favorite thing to do was be a model, and this meant...

Digital House Cleaning
Do you ever just feel exhausted … from well … life? While I have been feeling like I’ve been going nonstop since my trip to New York last week, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed in general. A little burnt out.
You know how some people … maybe even you … like being busy all the time? That’s not me. I like having large pockets of time when I...
Too Cute For Words
This is my niece and nephew, Emma and Liam. Prepare yourselves. Their cuteness is a little out of control right now.
I told you. I cannot wait for July to be here so I can see them be this cute in real life.
You might be thinking … How do two kids possibly get this cute? Here’s the reason.
Their momma. I mean .. cuteness personified right there.

24 Hours In NYC
Last week Ming and I took a whirlwind trip of sorts to New York City. We, of course, took the bus.
Taking the bus to NYC is really the best. Except if you take it on a Friday during evening rush hour (which we didn’t). Then it’s the worst. But I expect being a car then is pretty awful too. I caught up on some podcasts and slept.
While we did walk a lot - hello beautiful Central...

Bridesmaids Dresses Are In!
When it came time to pick out bridesmaids dresses, I handed off all the responsibilities to my sisters. This was one thing I knew I didn’t need to worry about it. I left all the decisions (except for color) up to them. Long. Short. Material. Cut. Whatever.
And look at how pretty they are! Perfect for a summer wedding … right? Right.

Weekly Web Favorites: Art Edition
Man, taking two days off to travel to New York (which I will share soon!) and back has meant that I’ve had to play catch up in a major way for the million (or what feels like it) deadlines I have on Monday. One of my favorite ways to de-stress is to look at pretty things.
Here are some of my favorite art finds on the web recently:
I also love, love, love the San Francisco MOMA tumblr.

Flashback Friday! Bangs
Photo circa …. 1990. Maybe 1991.
Bangs. White Rain … you know, the hairspray … was my BFF in these bangs glory days. You’ll see that Nicole and Alex are doing the traditional feathered and flipped bangs. Me … I went for the half up, half down feathered and flipped style. I would spend a good 10 minutes perfecting those bangs. And the White Rain … it...

Wedding Dress Update
Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow.
I had my wedding dress fitting on Tuesday and it was sort of amazing. The dress is just … uh … so beautiful. So perfect. So me.
And I had two great friends there to ooooh and aaaaah with me and take plenty of photos to share with my mom. Sorry. I won’t be posting any of those photos on the blog until after the wedding.
And Yvonne, the designer behind...

Book Club Split Down The Middle: Salvage The Bones
Jesym Ward. Oh how reading her novel Salvage The Bones made me so envious of how well she writes. I don’t remember the last time I read a piece of fiction and could so vividly picture everything that was happening and actually feel like I might have been there. Jesym Ward. She is now my literary idol.
However, as much I loved the beautiful poetry of Jesym Ward’s novel, not everybody...

Relationship Saver: Squeezit
You know how everyone says you really get to know someone, especially the person you’re in a relationship with, when you move in with them? Well, this was definitely true in some respects when Chad and I first moved in together.
It turns out we both have very different toothpaste tube squeezing habits. I’m a squeeze from wherever your fingers land on the tube kind of gal. Chad …...

This One Is For You, Mom
That’s my mom and her five daughters. Five! Sometimes I can hardly believe there are that many of us. I don’t know how she did it/still does it. The twins are finishing up their freshman year of high school Wow again!
My mom, like a lot of mothers out there, is superwoman in her own way. And we’ve only gotten closer as I’ve gotten older. I feel extremely lucky that she...

Flashback Friday! Litte Senorita
In case you couldn’t tell, that’s me second from the left. Pretty freakin’ adorable, right? My memory of this event isn’t great. But I do remember really loving being able to get dressed up for it. It was one of those come dressed to represent your ethnic heritage type of things in elementary school. And I’m pretty sure that’s a Katniss braid I’m...
Looking Like An Adult
This photo was taken on Sunday. The second I saw it I thought, Holy shit. I look like an adult. I know that may sound a bit strange since I’ve technically been an adult for almost 13 years.
I guess the more appropriate phrasing should be “grown up.” You know, a grown up that a little kid would call Miss. Or a grown up that a teenager looks at and thinks, I’m glad...

Wedding Update: The Good & The Bad
Okay … I’ll start with the bad. After months of stress-free wedding planning-ness, I had awful wedding nightmares last night. I woke up feeling like I hadn’t slept at all and was just not in a good mood.
What does a bride-to-be do in a situation like this? I took Dexter out on an hour and a half walk this morning through my neighborhood’s winding streets. Honestly, you...
The Youngs Were Here!
One of my favorite couples in the whole wide world - Thomas and Norie Anne Young were in town over the weekend. I met them when I was living in Boston. Chad and Thom grew up together and Norie Anne, who is now the Mrs., moved out to Miami to be with her sweetie.
Norie Anne and I became instant friends. Seriously. We shared a mutual love of extra dirty martinis and jumping up on bar booths to...

One of my worst Dexter fears happened a few days ago. He ran into a soccer net in the field across the street from our house. This resulted in all of his legs and his head getting caught in the netting. I spent five minutes untangling him from it all. I honestly thought at one point I was going to have to cut him out of it and pay the city for a new soccer net. I mean, how in the world did his...

Dying To Have: Crawfish Boil
It seems like everywhere I turn online there’s a crawfish boil happening. I’ve never had crawfish and I’m dying to have a crawfish boil at home or order one while out. Ideally, someone I know would throw a crawfish boil party and invite me over.
Even though I’ve never had crawfish, I just know that I would love it. I mean, I drool just thinking about how much I would...

Flashback Friday! Elementary School Love Notes
Remember those Do you like my friend? Circle Yes or No notes? Well, I found one in an old photo album.
Tina was my bestie in elementary school. Like … attached at the hip friends.
Top Row: Alex (left) & Nicole / / / Bottom Row: Tina (left) & me
I used to love passing notes in class. I’d always get so nervous if it was a Will you be my boyfriend? note. I think one of my...

Score For New England!
Last night I went to my first New England Revolution game of the season. Chad and I are season ticket holders and this was actually the team’s third home game but I wasn’t able to go to the first two. So, I was extra excited about going to last night’s game.
Our seats are incredible! They are in the 8th row and Chad pointed out that I wouldn’t even need to bring...

Mollie Was Here!!!
You know how hard it is to make new friends as an adult, right? Especially when you move someplace new? Well, when I moved back to Boston nearly five years ago for graduate school, that was my biggest fear.
Little did I know how lucky I would be. One of the great friends I made was Mollie.
That’s Mollie - post an amazing dinner at Orinoco in Harvard Square.
She was in town last week...
